Welcome to my blog. As the inaugural blog, I thought I’d take a few moments and share with you who I am, why I’ve chosen to create a blog and what you can expect going forward. Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Ken Brandau and I am the owner of Formax Construction. Formax is a southeast Michigan based construction company. After nearly 30 years of every type of building and remodeling project, I have decided to share the many lessons learned, tips, tricks, and tools through a blog series. I’ve had the privilege of building a world-class team of employees as well as being a single person on the job doing the work myself. Formax has: been the general contractors on large scale commercial projects, been an owner’s agent, done remodels in client’s home while they lived alongside the work, built ground-up homes, and so much more. I’ve done and experienced everything from simply changing light fixtures to building out 54,000 square foot space and everything in between.
Through my varied experiences, I’ve gained a ton of knowledge. Today Formax still does work for clients but is doing more consulting. As a consultant, I’ve been sharing some of the same knowledge and expertise but only one person or project at a time. It’s time to make a greater impact and help more people. Thus, the creation of this blog series, tool kits, and more. Each of the topics we will be covering are actual sticking points clients have sought help for over the years.
Some of you may know me and Formax well. Maybe, I even remodeled the space you are sitting in right now. Others of you may not know me or the work of Formax at all. Please let me take a moment to share with you a little bit more about me. I live in southeast Michigan and have most of my life. I am blessed to have been married to my best friend and business partner, Tina, for over 28 years. We have two adult children. As a native Michigander, I love the outdoors and all the seasons have to offer. From camping and campfires to riding ATVs and dirt bikes on the vast MI trail system, from enjoying the lakes to experiencing all four seasons, there is no better place in the world for me than Michigan.
I have been given the gift of the ability to see spaces and projects different than many people, envisioning their finished space. Even after all this time, there is still something so rewarding and humbling about the look of excitement on a client’s face as a project comes together. My life is lived with three unwavering guiding principles: faith, family, and the drive to do what is right.
As we embark on sharing our lessons learned and knowledge, helping people get comfortable making their projects a reality, we invite you to join us. We hope you will. Make sure to you click the link below, don’t miss out.
